The Epson XP-8500 is a multifunction colour printer which is ideal for photo enthusiasts. It will work well in a small office or a home, where the compact footprint and low operating noise makes it easy to place. With this printer, anyone can produce long-lasting, vibrant prints of an exceptional standard. It has the ability to print wirelessly and from smart devices so everyone in the household can find it useful. As well as printing photographs, it is also possible to print onto CDs and DVDs or to create photo projects. The design is good, but is let down by the small output tray. Low yield ink cartridges increase printer down time and can result in a high cost per page.
Design
The Epson XP8500 is a compact, stylish machine with the dimensions of 349 x 340 x 142 mm. Print resolution is 5760 x 1400 dpi with print speeds of 9.5 ppm in colour and 9 ppm in colour. Connection is achieved via a USB, card slot and wirelessly. The device is controlled and monitored from a 6.8 cm touchscreen located on the front of the device.
Advantages
The photographs printed on the Epson Expression Photo XP-8500 will appear vivid and will last for up to 300 years in an album. Thanks to Epson print apps, it is easy to print or scan directly from a smartphone. The versatile machine can print on a variety of media including CDs and DVDs and create a wide range of photo projects. An auto-deploying output tray allows for remote printing.
Disadvantages
With slow printing speeds and low yield ink cartridges, the Epson Expression Photo XP-8500 is not the most efficient printer and the cost per page is on the high side. The output tray is too small and there is no fax function as well.
