HP Designjet 220 Printer Review

Expert review of the HP Designjet 220 printer

Our Verdict:
star
star-filled

Designed for offices and business with large-format printing needs, the HP Designjet 220 is a monochrome inkjet plotter. This unit offers a 600 x 600 dpi maximum print resolution and can handle media as large a D-size. The HP Designjet 220 black and white plotter printer is used for AutoCAD and offers automatic switching on printer languages HP GL, HP GL/2, and HP RTL plus PJL. Being an older model, the outdated HP Designjet 220 printer does not offer USB connectivity.

Design

Users can print draft, final, and enhanced modes on the Designjet 220 plotter. This unit measures 43 x 15 x 14 inches and weighs 66 lbs. It has a single mouth feed and can handle polyester film, plain and bond paper, plus vellum and translucent paper. For connectivity, serial and parallel interfaces are available; optional HP JetDirect ex external is also offered. The HP Designjet 220 inkjet printer is capable of delivering final quality D-sized media in around 3 minutes.

Advantages

This large-format printer has an affordable price yet it does not compromise the quality of its prints. The HP Designjet 220 large format printer delivers good quality images, graphics, and texts plus it can handle a wide range of media. The HP Designjet 220 monochrome plotter does not require regular maintenance and it is quiet when operating. For savings on the ink, users can buy a compatible HP Designjet 220 printer cartridge made from recycled materials as a cheaper alternative to the genuine Designjet 220 print cartridge

Disadvantages

This large format printer has limited connectivity options and does not work with Macintosh operating systems. The HP 220 Designjet printer is a bit outdated; there are new large format printers that can do more and have faster printing speeds.
