HP Deskjet 1220c Printer Review

Expert review of the HP Deskjet 1220c printer

Our Verdict:
star
star-filled

This printer is one of the few inkjet printers in the market that can handle wide-format printing jobs. The HP DeskJet 1220c is also both useful for business and personal needs with its ample features and midrange price. It just needs improvement on the quality of plain-paper text.

Design

For a desktop printer, the HP DeskJet 1220c is quite heavy at 22 pounds, but fairly fast at 11 ppm in black-and-white and 9.5 ppm in colour. It looks bulky, too, being 15 inches deep, 9.2 inches tall, and 23.3 inches wide. The HP DeskJet 1220c has 8MB of RAM, and the media feeder has an autoload function for 150 sheets.

Advantages

Fairly quiet while in operation (only 47 dBA of sound emission), the HP DeskJet 1220c does not disrupt work and concentration especially in the office. Its plug-and-play feature allows you to use it with ease on different computers without going through a lengthy installation and set-up process. The HP DeskJet 1220c is also often praised for excellent graphics and photo quality.

Disadvantages

Perhaps the biggest drawback of the HP DeskJet 1220c is its inferior text print quality. Also, for something being aimed at office use, this printer lacks salient connectivity options like Ethernet, Wi-Fi, PictBridge, and media card slots. The DeskJet 1220c may be good enough for home offices, but is underpowered for more challenging settings.
