Design
The 'tissue box' look and lightweight plastic casing of the HP Deskjet 3820 makes it quite light at 11.7 pounds and compact at 7.6 inches tall, 20.0 inches wide, and 14.8 inches deeps. This inkjet printer can be linked to your PC or Mac using either a Parallel or USB connection. The HP Deskjet 3820 is integrated with HP ColorSmart III / HP PhotoREt III image enhancement technology for printing high-resolution photos.
Advantages
Amateur photographers may find the HP Deskjet 3820 a good choice because of its high-quality photo prints. Text printing is adequately fast at 12 ppm in draft, 6 ppm for 'normal' monochrome, and 10 ppm for mixed colour and text draft.
Disadvantages
The 2 MB RAM is often insufficient and renders this device slow. The HP Deskjet 3820 does not have high-yield ink cartridges, so expect running costs to be high. The flimsily-designed hardware and casing makes this device too fragile for heavy use. The USB cable is not included in the package when you buy the HP Deskjet 3820. Text and graphics look mediocre, too.
