A top quality inkjet printer from HP, the HP Deskjet F2180 adds copying and scanning to its list of functions, making it a good choice for small businesses, offices, and even homes with above-average printing requirements. This multifunction inkjet boasts superior photo and graphics printing capabilities and impressive print speeds of up to 17ppm for black and white and 11ppm for colour pages (draft mode). The HP Deskjet F2180 can also produce 4x6 pictures in as fast as 50 seconds. Unlike more advanced MFPs, however, this printer-scanner-copier is not network-ready, making it unsuitable for multiple computer environments.

Design

Looking very similar to box-type Deskjets in the same line, the sleek HP Deskjet F2180 features a flat bed scanner on top of the unit. It offers high-speed USB but no memory card support. The paper tray can be folded up when not in use to save desk space.

Advantages

Among the main advantages of the HP Deskjet F2180 is top notch print quality (for both text and photos). The HP Deskjet F2180 scans at a maximum optical resolution of 1200x2400 dpi and 48-bit colour depth. The copier can zoom up to 400%, and can produce at least 14 copies per minute (even more when using only the black ink).

Disadvantages

Aside from lacking networking functions, the HP Deskjet F2180 also falls behind other multifunction printers because it does not have faxing capabilities. It can also be ink thirsty, although there are many smart ways to keep your running costs low.
