A colour printer high resolution scanner, and copier in one, the DeskJet F4240 is an easy to use and fast multifunction device suitable for homes and small offices that don't require heavy printing. It is an average, user friendly everyday tool that prints efficiently and produces pretty accurate scans and clear copies. The DeskJet F4240, however, is not the most durable choice, especially with its flimsy paper tray. Users report that it takes only a little over a year before it starts bugging down.

Design

A typical box-type multifunction, the DeskJet F4240 looks very similar to the other Deskjets in the F4000 series, with the same pull down paper tray, flat bed scanner, and easy to use control panel. It connects to the computer via USB.

Advantages

The DeskJet F4240 is a pretty basic all-in-one machine designed for small office and home use. It prints as fast as 26 pages per minute in black and 20 pages per minute in colour. The scanner has a resolution of up to 19,200 dpi. Its monthly duty cycle is 3,000 pages, and print resolution is 4800x1200 dpi. DeskJet F4240 offers superior printing quality and fast copy functions.

Disadvantages

The DeskJet F4240 drinks ink, and regular use may mean you need to buy new cartridges up to 2 times a month. It is also prone to paper jams and takes time to warm up.
