HP Deskjet F4580 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Deskjet F4580 printer
Designed for home office users, the HP F4580 all-in-one printer has wireless connectivity, allowing you to print from a number of devices – perfect if you have more than one laptop or PC in the house. As you would expect from HP, the F4580 inkjet is reliable and well built. The convenience of a built-in scanner and colour photocopier makes this printer a great all-rounder.
Design
The HP F4580 inkjet printer looks great with its professional matte-black finish. The fully functional LED control panel on the top of the printer allows you to use the photocopier without turning your computer on. It also has alerts to warn you if you're running low on ink or if there is a paper jam. The HP Deskjet F4580 inkjet printer runs on the same two ink cartridges as its single-function counterpart and these clip in easily at the front of the device.
Advantages
The wireless functionality of the HP F4580 is reliable, the signal strength is strong with little in the way of delay. Print quality is impressive for an all-in-one - text is dense and clear with little fuzziness around the characters. Colour graphics are vivid and bright with no signs of fading.
Disadvantages
Although it's not expected from an all-in-one primarily designed for document printing, it would have been useful to have a USB socket or card reader, so that you could print directly from a pen drive or from a memory card. Another issue is the quality of the scanner, although it could replicate simple documents, photographs were problematic with images appearing blurry and lacking depth and colour.
