HP Officejet R60 Printer Review
Expert review of the HP Officejet R60 printer
With time-saving features like an automatic document feeder and claims of speedy printing, the HP Officejet R60 can be considered by small offices that are looking for a simple and comprehensive device to improve their productivity and cut down their expenses. As an all-in-one device, the Officejet R60 is feature-packed with a copier, scanner, and a colour printer with special perks for more versatility, but print speeds and actual performance are lagging behind faster and more efficient multifunction machines.
Design
This compact multifunction device is striking, with a simple yet sleek frame that is built for professional environments. HP integrated 4MB of RAM in the HP Officejet R60 so it can be fast enough for basic applications. The HP R60 weighs 14.14kg because of the automatic document feeder, and measures 18.45 inches wide, 19.75 inches tall, and 17.25 inches deep, which is quite compact for cramped spaces.
Advantages
In terms of a being a versatile all-in-one device, the Officejet R60 succeeds on many levels. The HP Officejet R60 has built-in fonts and supports different types of paper, including iron-on transfers. The 600x2400dpi copier is integrated with digital image processing and comes with an automatic document feeder for up to 30 sheets. Users can scan directly to PC fax, email, Adobe Photo Deluxe, and MS Word applications for more convenience, and edit scanned documents later on.
Disadvantages
Colour images may not look very impressive because of the low 600x600dpi resolution (despite advanced image enhancement technologies). The HP Officejet R60 is quite sluggish and can only go up to 10ppm in monochrome and 6 ppm in colour. Running costs can be higher because of expensive consumables. Unlike other models from the Officejet R line of multifunction devices, the HP Officejet R60 lacks a fax machine. Another disadvantage is the limited 4MB RAM, which is non-upgradeable.
