Ask us a question we're happy to help!

  • Can the Lexmark X2550 black and colour ink cartridges be refilled once they're empty?

Can I refill Lexmark X2550 ink cartridges?

Yes, it is possible to refill the cartridges for the X2550 printer, and we do stock refill kits that are compatible with the Lexmark X2550 cartridges. However, when refilling cartridges, you should refill them when they are reading low instead of empty. This is because it is not possible to reset the chips and once the chip is reading empty the printer will always recognise the cartridge as empty.

  • I have a Lexmark X2550 and you have two groups of numbers, 29 and 35 for colour or 28 and 34 for black. What's the difference between them please?

Difference between Lexmark X2550 printer cartridges

The main difference is the capacity. For example, the Lexmark 28 black ink cartridge can print up to 175 pages only whereas the Lexmark 34 high capacity black ink cartridge can print up to 550 pages. The same applies to the colour cartridges with the Lexmark 35 high capacity colour cartridge containing more ink than the Lexmark 29 colour cartridge. This is reflected in the price of the items although you should bare in mind that high capacity cartridges will produce a cheaper-cost-per-print than the regular size cartridges even though they are more expenisve to purchase initially.

  • Hi, I always purchase cartridges from you but my Lexmark X2550 printer seems to have problems now. Can you give me any advice as to which printers use the cheapest ink. I still have unopened black and colour cartridges purchased from you for the Lexmark All in One X2550. Would I be able to change them if they aren't compatible with my new printer when purchased? Thanks, Pam.

Lexmark X2250 ink for other printers

There are hundreds of different Lexmark printer models that can be used for different purposes and so it would be very hard for us to single any out. The cheapest cartridges we sell in terms of the face value would be compatible Lexmark ink cartridges. However, in terms of the cost-per-print you might get better value from a cartridge which has a higher purchase price but lasts longer. If you currently still have black and colour cartridges that are unopened and in their original condition they can be returned to us for a refund. We can provide you with a list of printers that can also use Lexmark X2550 black and colour cartridges. • My Lexmark X2550 printer currently has the No. 28 and No. 29 cartridges installed. Can I replace them with the No. 34 and No 35. high capacity cartridges? Are there any issues if I do so? Thank you.

    Replacement Lexmark X2550 ink cartridges

Yes, you can use the high capacity Lexmark 34 and Lexmark 35 ink cartridges in the Lexmark X2550 printer along with any other cartridge listed on this page. The only difference between the Lexmark 28 / 29 cartridges you're currently using and the Lexmark 34 / 35 ink cartridges is the amount of ink they contain. Both types are compatible with your printer. As long as you have one black and one-tri-colour cartridge installed in the X2550 printer you should be able to use any combination of these cartridges. There's also a photo cartridge which occupies the black slot for printing better quality photo images.

Lexmark X2550 Printer Review

Expert review of the Lexmark X2550 printer

Our Verdict:

Lexmark combines speed, versatility, and high quality photo output in one sleek multifunction printer for personal use. The Lexmark X2550 is also aimed at small offices with low volume printing needs. However, its speed and total media capacity may not be enough to meet the requirements of a busy workplace.

A colour scanner and copier are integrated around the Lexmark X2550 colour printer, which weighs 4.73 kilograms. It is a compact multifunction measuring 11.5 inches tall, 16.9 inches wide, and 6.9 inches tall. The ink technology of the Lexmark X2550 is the 4-colour inkjet cartridge system, but it can accommodate 2 more cartridges for printing high resolution graphics. The 36-bit CIS flatbed scanner's resolution can be enhanced up to 19200x19200 dpi. The surface of this printer appears clean and uncluttered, with only a few buttons located on the top right.

The Lexmark X2550 is an excellent photo printer because of its 6-ink system, which allows a wider colour palette. It is fairly fast and can print up to 14 ppm in monochrome (normal) and up to 16 ppm in colour (draft mode). The Lexmark X2550 is also among the most affordable multifunction printers around.

Speed declines to 3 ppm in colour when the Lexmark X2550 is configured to print in normal mode. This device consumes a lot of ink and lacks direct-printing capabilities – no media card slots, no PictBridge, and no wireless capabilities.
