OKI Microline ML395C Printer Review

Expert review of the OKI Microline ML395C printer

Our Verdict:

The Oki Microline ML395C is a dot matrix printer. While many dot matrix printers print in monochrome only, this Oki printer will also print in colour. It is ideal for a busy workplace that has a high volume of printing needs, including invoices, spreadsheets and labels requiring colour highlights as well as documents that require colour such as reports and presentations. The printer’s robust design allows it to work well, even in challenging environments. With rapid speeds and letter quality output, this printer gives good results, but there is a lack of flexibility in connection options, which may limit usage in workplaces that need to print from a variety of devices.

Design

With the measurements 180 x 570 x 417mm, the Oki Microline ML395C is a compact printer in a neutral, pale grey design that fits unobtrusively in most colour schemes. The printer takes a black ribbon cartridge that can print up top 5 million characters and a colour ribbon cartridge that will print up to 7 million characters. It has a 24-pin printhead and prints at speeds of up to 607 characters per second. Connection is via a parallel interface. A control panel on the front is used to check the printer’s status and to manage printing jobs.

Advantages

With a sturdy design, the Oki ML395C is a hardworking, reliable machine even in tough environments. With long lasting parts and ribbon cartridges, this printer is economical to run with minimal printer down time. It prints quickly, and because it also prints in colour, it is easy to add highlights to documents or produce colour presentations.

Disadvantages

Although capable of good quality printing, this machine is somewhat inflexible with limited connection options and has no facility to scan, copy or fax, which may mean the purchase of additional devices.
