Panasonic KX-FC245 Printer Review

Expert review of the Panasonic KX-FC245 printer

Our Verdict:

The Panasonic KX-FC245 is a thermal transfer fax machine with an integrated answering machine. The unit even comes with a DECT handset, which offers a large capacity number directory that can store up to 200 names. The same handset allows SMS text messaging and features a variety of polyphonic tones. The Panasonic KX-FC245 printer is a reliable single function device that makes it easier to send, receive, and manage faxed communication. However, it does not offer any other advanced features like copying or printing, and it takes long to transmit a single page.

Design

A typical fax machine, the Panasonic KX-FC245 fax machine is relatively compact. It has intuitive navigation keys and it comes with a wireless extension (DECT handset) which offers many other interesting features. The Panasonic KX-FC245 plain paper fax has a large LCD screen surrounded by easy to understand and master control buttons, including a large keypad for dialling contacts. Replacement Panasonic KX-FC245 film ribbons are sold in a twin pack that delivers approximately 330 pages of black and white prints in total.

Advantages

In addition to the cordless handset and efficient thermal transfer printing, the Panasonic KX-FC245 thermal fax printer has a large enough document memory, up to 28 pages. It even has a digital answering system, while the cordless phone offers SMS text messaging for more communication options. The Panasonic KXFC245 inkjet fax is an excellent communication centre for a small office, though it transmits fax messages slower than more advanced G3 fax machines.

Disadvantages

The KX FC245 inkjet printer can only transmit 1 page per 8 seconds, which is more than double the time it takes for more advanced fax machines to send out faxes. Nevertheless, the Panasonic KX-FC245 fax is a good choice for small home offices in need of a reliable communications centre.
