Sharp NX-100 Printer Review

Expert review of the Sharp NX-100 printer

Our Verdict:

The Sharp NX-100 is a fax machine that is suitable for use in a small or home office. It is easy to operate, with helpful features, such as number storage and speed dial, to save time and increase efficiency. This fax machine is a reliable device, likely to need little in the way of maintenance and repairs. However, this is a basic machine with no capacity to fulfil any other office functions apart from telephone and fax. With just the one phone line, it does not easily support multiple users, and with limited paper capacity, it will need frequent refills if the machine is receiving regular faxes.

Design

Featuring a grey design, the Sharp NX-100 will fit in well with most office colour schemes. It is operated by a keypad on the front of the device that includes a two-line monochrome LCD screen. A phone handset is connected by a wire to one side of the fax machine. The machine takes a thermal transfer ribbon, which is easily inserted inside the cover. The paper feed accepts 20 sheets of fax paper.

Advantages

The thermal transfer technology of the Sharp NX-100 allows for rapid printing, free from smudges. It works reliably, needing little in the way of maintenance or repair. It is easy to operate for both sending and receiving faxes. A speed dial option saves time, and it saves up to 40 numbers for quick faxing. A volume control allows you to minimise noise levels when required.

Disadvantages

With so many printers also incorporating a fax function, the Sharp NX-100 may take up valuable office space unnecessarily. It does not support multiple cordless handsets, thus limiting the number of people who can comfortably use it. Paper capacity is low and will need frequent refills if accepting a large number of faxes.
