Xerox ColorQube 8580ADN Printer Review
Expert review of the Xerox ColorQube 8580ADN printer
The Xerox ColorQube 8580ADN is an office workhorse designed for the most demanding office print runs, with its sizeable 625-sheet input tray and print speeds of up to 51 pages per minute. The 2400 FinePoint solid ink printer delivers excellent quality, with text and images that burst from the page with clarity and vibrancy. It is compact and robust, with a range of functions that support its recommended maximum print volume of 8,000 pages per month.
Design
The ColorQube 8580ADN measures 40.6 x 52.1 x 36.8cm and weighs 27.4kg. It is built to last and has a cream finish, which is perfect for office spaces with light decor. Users can access a range of buttons in a blue front panel, housed at the very front of unit. Its solid ink system is much more efficient than laser ink alternatives and helps to reduce its carbon footprint in the long term. Input and output trays are large and suitable for heavy-duty work. The 8580ADN is fitted with a 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM, which can be upgraded to 2GB.
Advantages
This printer boasts a first page out speed of less than five seconds, 51 pages every minute and a fully customisable tray output, offering a maximum of more than 2,200 sheets, which should cater for even the heaviest of workloads. It is also possible to load up to five different types of media at any given time. Ethernet delivers the best connection, while an optional adapter can be purchased for wireless operation. The Xerox 8580ADN also has duplex printing as standard. Its unique use of solid ink sets it apart from other models in the mid to high-end printer market.
Disadvantages
The ColorQube 8580ADN may take some time to warm up and there may be better options for users requiring on the go mobile connectivity and access to online resources for printing. Its bulky profile also counts against it if space is limited.
