Canon IR-2525 Printer Review

Expert review of the Canon IR-2525 printer

Our Verdict:

The Canon IR-2525 is a networkable multifunction printer that copies, prints and scans. It has an optional fax feature, which allows for easier document distribution. The Canon ImageRUNNER 2525 is an excellent find for workgroups looking for a reliable machine to handle all their document production needs. The IR2525 offers professional quality prints while providing users with a wide range of features to make work more convenient. The Canon IR-2525 laser printer is also a cost-effective device, keeping running costs low with its high yield cartridges. However, it is not as impressive when it comes to speed, producing only 25 ppm.

Designed for high-volume work, the Canon IR-2525 multifunction printer offers a maximum paper capacity of up to 2,000 sheets. It has a standard network interface, though single users can still use the USB port. For walk-up convenience, the unit features an additional USB port for direct printing from / scanning to USB memory devices. It has a flat bed scanner and copier, and the paper trays can handle varied paper sizes up to 11x17 inches (A3). The Canon IR2525 black and white copier measures only about 565x680x806 mm, still compact enough to fit small office corners. Users will have to clear up more vertical space when opting for an ADF upgrade.

Versatility is definitely the main selling point of the Canon IR-2525 office black and white printer. It combines 3 machines in one, plus fax option, making it an appealing choice for office users. The multifunctional Canon IR-2525 laser printer can produce up to 999 copies at a time from a single original, while the scanner can produce images with high resolutions up to 600x600 dpi. Additionally, the IR-2525 copier boasts a 256 MB internal memory, which can be upgraded to 512 MB. Replacing consumables is straightforward as the machine takes a black Canon IR2525 toner cartridge and a drum unit which expires after 50,000 pages.

The only disadvantage of the Canon IR-2525 printer compared to competing devices is its print speed, which, at 25 ppm is only average for devices in the same range. This model still does not support colour printing.
