The Dell 2350d is a single-function device designed for small offices that need a user-friendly printer with straightforward operation and high quality output. It is fast and versatile enough for occasional high-volume production, but the outdated appearance, high cost-per-page, and poor customer support make it less appealing.
Design
This is a boxy and understated-looking printer with an imposing frame that measures 10.24 inches tall, 14.53 inches deep, and 16.61 inches wide. Weighing 14.13Kg, the Dell 2350d is heavy and needs a sturdier surface for installation. Parallel and USB 2.0 are the main connectivity ports. The device is powered by a 400MHz processor running on 32MB of memory. Paper handling is through a 250-sheet drawer and 50-sheet multi purpose tray, while the output bin can handle 150 sheets. The minimalist control panel has a small monochrome display screen.
Advantages
It warms up fast and the print speed is up to 38ppm in A4-sized sheets. The print resolution of the Dell 2350d can be maximised to 1200x1200dpi for sharper output. Two-sided printing is also available as standard. Dell OpenManager software is available to simplify management and configuration of the functions of the Dell 2350d. An additional paper drawer can be installed, and the memory is upgradeable to 128MB. Several types of speciality media are supported, including envelopes, transparencies, and recycled paper.
Disadvantages
It cannot print in colour, and it can be difficult to use the multi-purpose feeder. The operator panel of the Dell 2350d is too small. There are no built-in networking features.
