Ask us a question we're happy to help!

  • My printer is a Dell laser printer model M5200 - the nearest toner I can find on your website to this model number is a Dell M5200n. I'm not sure what the "n" means, will this fit my machine?

    Dell M5200n toner compatibility

The "n" is likely to refer to a "network" laser printer. We only list the Dell M5200n as a UK printer model and it's possible that the Dell M5200 model could be a US printer. If this is the case then the cartridges we supply will not fit your printer. However, if you have a Dell M5200 series printer that was definitely purchased in the UK then it's likely that the cartridges we sell for the Dell M5200n printer will be compatible although we cannot guarantee this.

Dell M5200n Printer Review

Expert review of the Dell M5200n printer

Our Verdict:

The Dell workgroup laser printer M5200n is an affordable and network-ready printer suitable for the small but growing business because of the high paper capacity and the good selection of expansion options. However, the Dell M5200n mono laser printer lacks better IT support while the flimsy build makes the M-5200n less durable for heavy-duty needs.

This somewhat box-shaped unit looks sleek and stylish with its 17.2-inch wide, 20.2-inch deep, and 16-inch tall enclosure. It weighs 20.41Kg, so it may need a sturdier surface. The Dell M5200n printer runs on a 300MHz processor with 64MB of RAM, and it can be connected to a computer via USB, or to a network via Ethernet 10/100Base-TX. The default media capacity is 600 sheets with the 100-sheet autoload multipurpose feeder and a standard 500-sheet input feeder.

Print quality is good because of the maximum 1200x1200dpi resolution. The Dell M5200n workgroup mono laser printer is a network-ready device and it can easily be shared by a small but growing workgroup because of the generous memory, which is expandable to 320MB. It supports a good selection of commonly used language simulations and postscripts. The Dell M5200n laser printer is also fast, at up to 35ppm when printing in monochrome. Several expansion options are available for the Dell M-5200n black and white printer, including an additional paper input capacity of up to 2,600 sheets. Discounts on toner are available if users opt to buy third-party compatible Dell M5200n toner cartridges. 'Use & return' Dell M5200n cartridges are manufactured by Dell and sold at a cheaper price in the agreement that the user returns their empty cartridge to Dell for recycling.

It is not compatible with Mac operating systems. The plastic enclosure and the paper trays of the M5200n workgroup printer feel flimsy and non-durable. IT support is not that good and not very comprehensive when compared to the competition. The Dell M5200n could be better if it offered a USB host option for printing directly from flash drives. Two-sided printing is optional.
