Epson AcuLaser M2400DTN Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser M2400DTN printer

Our Verdict:

The Epson AcuLaser M2400DTN is a fast and efficient monochrome laser printer aimed at busy offices. Unlike its predecessor, the Epson AcuLaser M2400DTN mono laser printer comes with built-in Ethernet so it can easily be shared by a small workgroup. There are time and paper-saving functions, too, but some users might be disappointed with the lack of colour printing and the noisy operation.

Design

This box-shaped but compact unit measures 255mm tall, 390mm deep, and 378mm wide, and weighs 11.5Kg. The Epson M2400DTN workgroup printer has a small and easy to operate control panel, two paper trays with a 550-sheet standard capacity, and a 250-sheet output bin. The Epson AcuLaser M2400DTN mono duplex printer with extra tray connects to a single user via USB 2.0 type B, and to a network via the Ethernet port.

Advantages

The paper input capacity can be expanded to 800 sheets. Built-in Ethernet makes the Epson AcuLaser M2400DTN laser printer easier to share in a network. The device supports a wide range of network printing and management protocols. Downtime is decreased because the AcuLaser M-2400DTN printer is capable of churning out up to 35ppm without sacrificing the print quality of monochrome text documents. The Epson M2400DTN mono printer is also praised for energy efficiency, built-in two-sided printing function, and upgradeable RAM. The highest capacity Epson M2400DTN cartridges help to maximise productivity and can last for up to 8,000 pages.

Disadvantages

The M2400DTN monochrome printer is noisy, emitting up to 68 dBA of sound while in operation. Media handling is limited to the ones commonly used in the office including envelopes and plain paper. The black and white AcuLaser M2400DTN printer may not be the best choice for growing workgroups because of the limited upgrades available for the paper capacity and memory.
