Epson AcuLaser M7000DN Printer Review

Expert review of the Epson AcuLaser M7000DN printer

Our Verdict:

The compact size and sleek design makes the Epson AcuLaser M7000DN duplex A3 mono laser printer versatile enough for a home or small to medium-sized office that needs a user-friendly, reliable, and speedy laser printer. The Epson M7000DN black and white printer can handle A3-sized sheets and it offers a range of timesaving features to improve productivity, but it is quite expensive for a printer that lacks a few essential features.

Design

The breadbox-type frame of the Epson AcuLaser M7000DN A3 laser printer allows for easy set-up. The AcuLaser M7000DN printer weighs 22.8Kg and measures 518mm wide, 333mm tall, and 463.5mm deep, with a minimalist operator panel, a 230-sheet output bin, and a 230-sheet input tray. The device runs on 64MB of RAM, which is upgradeable to 320MB, and it is powered by a 288MHz processor. The LCD screen can display up to five lines of 22 characters.

Advantages

The Epson AcuLaser M7000DN monochrome laser printer is praised for the compact footprint, built-in two-sided printing, and networking capability. It supports a wide range of network management and printing protocols, and it can print on a good selection of media types and sizes. The maximum paper capacity of the Epson AcuLaser M7000DN workgroup printer is 1,230 sheets. Print quality is good at 1200dpi resolution with dot correction function. With an estimed print yield of 15,000 pages, the black AcuLaser M7000DN toner is very productive.

Disadvantages

It can only print in monochrome and it cannot print directly from a USB key or memory card. The M7000DN A3 printer is also criticised for the high initial price. The paper capacity expansion option is limited. On-board operation can be difficult because of the small control panel and display screen.
