Kyocera KM-2550 Printer Review

Expert review of the Kyocera KM-2550 printer

Our Verdict:

The Kyocera KM-2550 document imaging solution is a cost-effective device for small but busy workgroups that require a multifunctional machine to save space and reduce overall operating expenses. The black and white Kyocera KM2550 multifunction printer comes with a range of efficient standard features that help simplify the workload, but some functions are merely options, which requires upgrading the machine.

The base unit of the Kyocera KM-2550 multifunction copier measures 23.9 inches tall, 23.7 inches deep, and 22.6 inches wide, and weighs 54.43Kg. The KM-2550 mono laser printer may require more installation space on its right-hand side to give way to retractable paper trays. The standard memory is up to 64MB, which can be upgraded to 256MB. Default paper handling is via two 300-sheet drawers and a 50-sheet multipurpose tray. The copier includes a flatbed scanner with room for a duplexing unit. Additional paper handling options can make the device a freestanding unit.

The Kyocera KM-2550 small workgroup multifunctional printer takes less than 20 seconds to warm-up, with the first copy or print out ready in 4.9 seconds. It can print in speeds of up to 25ppm on letter-sized sheets and 13ppm on ledger or legal-sized paper. Versatile scan resolutions can be configured into the Kyocera KM-2550 laser printer to match the complexity of the document or image. The copy functions include up to 999 copies, eco-mode, and border erase. The Kyocera KM 2550 copier has a low cost of ownership because of its long–lasting consumables including the amorphous silicon drum and high-yield Kyocera KM2550 monocomponent toner.

Though the KM2550 printer is marketed as a multifunction printer, its other functions like fax and network scanning are actually optional. The duplexer, internal finisher, and 50-sheet document processor are also optional features, which could make users spend more for the device. The Kyocera KM-2550 monochrome copier can only support a limited selection of media, and it cannot handle cards and heavyweight paper.
