Lexmark XM1140 Printer Review

Expert review of the Lexmark XM1140 printer

Our Verdict:
star
star-filled

When it comes to printing good quality black and white output, with environmental efficiency and ease of use on side, the Lexmark XM1140 is a sensible choice. It can offer high image quality, while its features like Hibernation Mode will save energy both for your bills and for the planet. The print and copy speed is quite low, and it will not print in colour.

Design

The Lexmark XM1140 comes with several productivity features integrated into its design. It comes with the capacity to send scans to several destinations, such as fax or FTP. It has an 800 MHz processor, and prints can be launched within 6.5 seconds from startup in some cases. It also has a 10.9 cm touchscreen which is ideal for centralised controls and previews. It can be configured in several different ways to meet your organisation's needs thanks to its flexible media handling.

Advantages

The Lexmark XM1140 is particularly useful for those who want to improve their energy efficiency contributions thanks to the Hibernation Mode and the easy-access sleep button. Its maximum recommended monthly page volume is decent at 10,000 pages, while it also offers image quality of 1200 x 1200 dpi.

Disadvantages

It’s easy to see the Lexmark XM1140 working well in many environments, but its primary drawback is that it can only produce monochrome prints rather than colour ones as well. It also has a print and copy speed of just 38 ppm, which – while respectable enough – is far lower than the speed offered by others in this family of Lexmark devices. It also doesn’t have a hard disk option, which is something on offer with many other printers. If you need high-intensity colour photocopying options, this might not be the most appropriate device for you.
