Our Verdict:

Specifically designed for small offices and home users, the Oki C5100n allows network set up for multiple users. The Oki C5100n network laser printer has a built-in Ethernet interface in addition to its standard USB port, making it easier to share over a network of computers. The C5100n has decent print speeds when producing monochrome pages, although the same cannot be said with colour outputs. Unfortunately, the Oki C5100n colour laser printer is not compatible with platforms other than Windows.

Design

On the front panel of the Oki C5100n printer is a two-line LCD which displays printer status and other important alerts. The same display can be used to check for errors and navigate around on-screen menus. The front panel likewise holds the control buttons for toggling menu options. The Oki C5100n has a 300-sheet paper tray, in addition to the 100-sheet multipurpose tray. Those in need of larger paper capacity can purchase the optional paper bin, which increases the total capacity of the unit to 930 sheets.

Advantages

Networking is the highlight of the Oki C5100n laser printer, making it a suitable choice for shared printer environments. It offers good quality prints, though not as impressive as other competing models. The network-ready Oki C5100n uses Type C5 toner cartridges which come in four separate colours and each with a page yield of 5,000 pages to maximise productivity.

Disadvantages

Print speed is not the strongest point of the Oki C-5100n colour laser printer, as it can only produce 20 black and white pages in one minute and up to 12 colour pages in the same amount of time. More powerful units with better print quality are available in the market.
