Ricoh Aficio 1018D Printer Review
Expert review of the Ricoh Aficio 1018D printer
Because of the added two-sided printing function, the Ricoh Aficio 1018D digital copier is a better choice than its sibling. The Ricoh Aficio 1018D digital multifunction copier offers monochrome printing and optional network print capabilities and fax. However, the limitations of the previous unit were carried over to the Aficio 1018D. Its overall efficiency for small to medium-sized workgroups is questionable.
Design
The Ricoh Aficio 1018D printer stands 20.4 inches tall but it is fairly compact for the small to medium-sized office because it is 21.7 inches wide and 22.4 inches in diameter. It weighs approximately 42Kg, but it is easy to move because it can be placed on a stand with wheels. The default paper capacity is 250 sheets with two standard trays, while the bypass feed can accommodate up to 100 sheets or 10 envelopes. The output tray can handle 250 sheets. The control panel is conveniently positioned beside the flatbed scanner and it is slightly angled.
Advantages
Duplex printing and faxing are already included in the Ricoh Aficio 1018D mono laser printer. It prints in monochrome and produces text documents that look crisp in 600x600dpi. The built-in memory of the copier can be upgraded to 32MB. The Ricoh Aficio 1018D black and white copier is significantly cheap to run and easy to operate with its single Ricoh 1018D toner that lasts for up to 9,600 pages.
Disadvantages
The print and copy speeds are only up to 18ppm, which is quite slow when high volume production is concerned. The Ricoh 1018D copier is expensive, too, and users might be overpaying for a multifunction copier when they can find cheaper and more efficient options from the competition. The memory is poor on its own, at only 32MB, and upgrading the Aficio 1018D laser printer for higher memory, paper capacity, and the integration of an automatic document feeder can be expensive.
