Ricoh made a name for itself with the Aficio 1027 multifunction laser printing station. The Aficio 2027 and the Aficio 2022 are the next generation of that machine, and they both boast improvements across the board. Essentially identical, the defining difference being the 2022 and 2027 is speed: 22 versus 27 pages per minute. Both models include two trays that hold 500 pages each and support all common paper sizes, and they both come in a standard and an S/P package. The S/P models have the copying and fax features preinstalled. The standard models do not, but they are less expensive and the buyer can expand the functionality when they need it or can afford it.
The Ricoh 2027 is large machine that will require a dedicated space within the office. It does have optional wheels that make moving the machine easier and which you can then lock into place. Like all Aficio printers, the 2027 is a well designed machine with a business-orientated sensibility. It will not win any style awards, but neither will it look out of place in the modern, upscale business environment. From a practical perspective, Ricoh has designed the 2027 well, and they have managed to overcome some of the design issues that were present on the 1027 model.
Expansion is what distinguishes the Ricoh 2027 most. For most business users, the 2027 is the total solution right out of the box. But if not, then the expansion options are out there, and you can purchase them one component at a time. What this allows the business to do is purchase the Ricoh Aficio 2027 with confidence. If the needs of the business change, then this investment can change with it. Other great advantages are its durability and ease of repair. For this reason, many business save a great deal of money by purchasing a used or refurbished unit.
When it comes to a professional level printer such as the Ricoh 2027 there are not many shortcomings, and you can often remedy the ones that do rear their heads quite easily. There is a downside here though. Some of the add-ons that Ricoh sells separately should probably be included. Many who buy this printer will want fax, copying and automatic feeding capabilities, but if Ricoh decided to add those features it would increase the overall price considerably. Also, most buyers will require a comprehensive service contract.
