An all-in-one device that offers fax, scan, copy, and print functions, the Ricoh Aficio SPC221SF multifunction printer makes an excellent addition to an office or a small business setting in need of a reliable machine for basic document handling tasks. The Aficio SPC221SF offers fast print speeds of up to 20 ppm, and maximum print resolutions of up to 1200x2400 dpi. This desktop friendly machine weighs no more than 30 kg, and measures around 420x490x475 mm. The Ricoh Aficio SPC221SF is a worthy investment, but it is limited to small format documents.

Design

The Ricoh Aficio SP C221SF colour laser printer may not be the most compact multifunction device one can find, although it has a functional design, with the ADF unit and scanner/digital copier mounted right on top of the laser printer unit. The Ricoh Aficio SPC221SF multifunction printer has a simple control panel which is laid out on the slanted panel in front of the machine, complete with a 2-line LCD, which displays various functions. Indicator lights for errors and consumable status (toner and paper) are also at hand.

Advantages

More than its versatile functions, the Ricoh Aficio SP C221SF offers 128 MB of memory, which keeps operations fast. Copy speeds are even faster at 21 ppm, although this may slow down when using high-resolution modes up to 600x600 dpi. The copier can likewise handle digital zooms ranging from 25% - 400% of the original. The scanner on the SPC221SF has an optical scan resolution of up to 1200x1200 dpi, which can be enhanced up to 19200x19200 dpi, while the fax component can send messages at a speed of 33.6 kbps.

Disadvantages

The Ricoh SPC221SF is a reliable machine for small to large businesses, although it is not the most sleek-looking printer. Users may find supported media types limited, as the Ricoh Aficio SPC221SF printer can only handle up to A4 size paper.
