Xerox Phaser 5550B Printer Review
Expert review of the Xerox Phaser 5550B printer
The Xerox Phaser 5550B is an A3 mono laser printer and comes with a range of features that makes it a great choice for any office. The high print resolution of up to 1200 dpi means that professional quality printing is assured.
With a recommended monthly print volume of up to 50,000 pages, it is ideal for an office where the printer is in almost constant use.
Design
The unit features a paper tray of 100 sheets, and a 500-sheet additional tray expands the paper storage considerably. Duplex printing on the unit is optional, but can help to save both paper and money. The memory on the unit is 256MB and there are USB ports on the printer. Users can add optional hard drive space of 40GB.
Its dimensions are 64cm x 52.6cm x 49.7cm, making it larger than the average office printer.
Advantages
The Xerox Phaser 5550B is compatible with both Windows and Mac OS. It has an average print speed of 50 pages per minute and several optional productivity features, including Personal Print, Proof Print and Saved Print. Wi-Fi connectivity, useful for busy offices, is one of the options for this printer.
Disadvantages
The printer is quite large and will need dedicated space, as it is not going to be easy to move around - its weight alone means more than one person is going to be needed to move it. The lack of colour printing could be a problem for some users.
