Expert review of the Xerox Phaser 6180N printer
A full-colour digital laser printer, the Xerox Phaser 6180N only functions as a printer but is an ideal full-colour printer for medium workgroups. Duplex printing is optional, but high-yield cartridges and cost control technology mean that the running costs for this printer remain reasonable. For a reliable, high-performance full-colour printer in a medium-workload environment, this device is excellent. However, if you require copying, faxing, or scanning, the machine will not meet your requirements.
Design
The Xerox Phaser 6180N is a white device with dimensions of 399 x 493 x 470 mm, weighing in at approximately 27.2 kg. Its print speed is up to 26 ppm for black and white and up to 20 ppm for full colour, while its print resolution is 600 dpi. Paper is stored in a 250-sheet input tray, with the option to increase capacity to 950 sheets if required. Its monthly duty cycle is 60,000 pages.
Advantages
With duplex printing as optional addition, the Xerox Phaser 6180N allows you to save money by reducing paper use. The device also can make wide-format prints up to 8.5” x 14”. Xerox printing technology makes this a reliable machine, and its high-yield toner cartridges reduce the printer’s downtime. Xerox’s integrated print features can also be used to reduce printing costs while the printer’s output continues to meet a professional standard. In addition to this, the printer includes a standard RAM of 128 MB which is expandable to 1,125 MB.
Disadvantages
As a full-colour printer only, the Xerox Phaser 6180N cannot copy, fax or scan, so you will need to look elsewhere if you need any of these requirements. The device is designed for producing large quantities, there are other devices that will better suit your needs if you need to make only a small number of prints. The printer only has networking capability via cable rather than wireless technology, which can sometimes make placement awkward.
