The Epson EcoTank ET-16500 is a large, multifunctional printer that has a high capacity that makes it suitable for commercial use. In addition to printing documents up to a size of 11 x 17 inches, it is capable of scanning, copying and faxing a range of documents and images. Its wireless function means that it does not need to be tethered to a PC for it to be effective. However, as it does not require or accept any cartridges, some may find the process of refilling the ink tanks a bit fussy and time-consuming.

Design

With a capacity of 500 sheets of plain paper, the Epson EcoTank ET-16500 is designed for the heavy use that can be expected from a busy workplace. The printer does not require cartridges as it uses refillable tanks. The flatbed has the benefit of a paper feeder, and it is possible to automatically copy and scan a large number of pages in one go. The control panel is easily accessible and ergonomic, including a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen.

Advantages

It is not necessary to continually purchase replacement cartridges for the Epson EcoTank ET-16500, and two-years’ worth of ink comes as part of the package; this equates to a high print capacity of 10,500 pages in black and white and 11,000 in colour. The printer has a simple setup process, which can be completed via the touchscreen. A range of format changes can be made with the Epson EcoTank ET-16500, such as printing double-sided or with a changed ratio. The printer benefits from the convenience of wireless connectivity, enabling remote printing from smart devices.

Disadvantages

The cost of the Epson EcoTank ET-16500 may make some people pause as it is a significant investment. Additionally, some users may initially not feel confident about the process of refilling the ink tanks.
