Our Verdict:

The Epson Eco Tank ET-3600 printers are more expensive than similar printers, but they do promise very low running costs. We think that these printers are a good choice if you print enough to be able to justify the higher price and the significant cost of the initial bottles of ink, which Epson claim will print up to 11,000 black and white or 8,500 colour pages. Overall, the Epson Eco Tank printer is a good little printer that produces good quality prints and is a reliable workhorse for those who print regularly.

Design

This printer is an update of earlier inkjet printers, however, this is the only one to have a 2.2-inch monochrome LCD. The Epson ET-3600’s screen is navigated with four directional keys and an Ok button. The control panel also has Home, Back, Cancel and Start buttons and a number pad. The ET-3600 is a compact printer that will fit comfortably on any desk. It has a scanner but does not have an automatic feeder. The printer has a 115-sheet paper cassette that can also hold 20 sheets of photo paper or 10 envelopes. The basic connectivity options for the printer are Ethernet, Wi-Fi or USB. Printing speeds are reasonable, as it is not intended to be a high-volume printer.

Advantages

One of the big claims Epson makes about the Eco Tank 3600 is that it will reduce printing costs. If you do not have a lot of printing the printer is not a great deal, but if you do you will notice the savings every time you replace the ink cartridges.

Disadvantages

The lack of an automatic document feeder makes the Epson ET-3600 an unsuitable choice for many small businesses. You also need to print regularly to take advantage of the promised reduction in printing costs.
