The HP Designjet T1100ps 44-in printer is an ideal large scale printer for architects, designers, engineers, and anyone who needs to produce large scale drawings or marketing materials. The printer is considered fast and reliable, but production has now ceased on this model; however, consumables such as inks are still available. The HP Designjet T1100ps features HP Thermal Inkjet technology and offers support for printing in PDF format.

Design

The HP Designjet T1100ps features all the usual paper trays and feed systems, including a roll feed and automatic cutter. The system utilises six ink tanks to provide high-quality mono and colour printing, and has 256 MB of RAM and a hard drive of 40GB to ensure easy processing of larger jobs. The printer has a maximum resolution of 2400 x 1200 dpi and is large with dimensions of 177 x 66.1 x 104.7cm, including the stand. The HP Designjet T1100ps weighs in at 86kg.

Advantages

The printer is able to deal with all sizes of printing from A4 to A0, enabling larger scale printing work to be kept in-house and avoiding outsourcing. The HP Designjet T1100ps 44 inch also accepts a wide variety of print media. It has a relatively quick print speed of up to 70 A1 sheets per hour, and is an easy-to-use model requiring no desk space as it is freestanding, so ideal for most offices.

Disadvantages

The HP Designjet T1100ps has been discontinued by HP although it is still possible to get inks and other consumables for it. It is not considered to be suitable for home printing due to the large size of the printer, it is better suited to office environments with regular large-scale printing needs. It does not feature Wi-Fi connectivity and can only be used where there is a nearby wired network connection or where it can be connected directly to a workstation.
