A small workgroup that needs a more affordable printer to run can consider the HP Officejet Pro 8100e. It is more advanced with colour laser-like printing, faster print speeds, and networking capabilities, so users get a comprehensive machine at a cheaper price. The HP Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter is an excellent photo and document printer, too, but colour graphics need improvement.

Design

This stylish inkjet printer features a user-friendly interface with one-touch buttons for easy operation and a fairly big LCD display screen. The HP 8100 ePrinter measures 19.4 inches wide, 8 inches tall, and 18 inches deep, and it is integrated with a 360MHz processor running on 128MB of memory. The Officejet Pro 8100e inkjet printer is versatile enough for 1200x600dpi monochrome prints and 4800x1200dpi colour output, with borderless printing, HP ePrint compatibility, and Apple AirPrint support. The paper input tray lies in the bottom front and it can accommodate up to 250 sheets.

Advantages

The HP Officejet Pro 8100e colour inkjet printer is praised for speed, an automatic duplexer and affordable ink cartridges. Media handling is flexible for a variety of media including photo paper, envelopes and cards. Text output looks laser sharp and photos are impressive with accurate colours and vibrant detail. The HP Officejet Pro 8100e printer is also appreciated for its network-ready interface and optional wireless capabilities. High capacity HP Officejet Pro 8100e ink cartridges and cheap "aftermarket" HP 8100 ePrinter cartridges allow users to save money.

Disadvantages

For an inkjet printer, the HP Officejet Pro 8100e colour printer is quite heavy at 11Kg. The bulky frame of the HP 8100 ePrinter takes up more space on a standard-sized desktop than it should. Colour graphics often appear over-saturated when printed with the Officejet Pro 8100 ePrinter, but a simple reconfiguration of the standard settings might solve this problem to some extent.
