Aimed at the small office, the HP PSC 1300 comes with a scanner and a copier along with an ink-jet colour printer. HP designed it to be an efficient all-in-one device for work, but its printing capabilities and speed make it more suitable for personal and home use.

Design

A part of the HP PSC 1300 series of all-in-one printers for small offices, this multifunction device uses ink-jet colour printing technology. It has a monthly duty cycle of 1,000 impressions and an 8MB RAM. The resolution of the colour scanner can be enhanced to 19200x19200 dpi (from 600x2400 dpi) for more vibrant and true-to-life output. The digital copier is capable of making up to 50 copies from the original document. There are built-in memory card slots on the HP PSC 1300, and they support xD-picture card, multimedia card, memory stick, CompactFlash, and SD memory card.

Advantages

Photo and text print quality is excellent. The HP PSC 1300 is also user-friendly and has direct printing capabilities because of the built-in memory card readers. The HP PSC 1300 is rather compact at only 10 inches deep, 16.5 inches wide, and 6.5 inches tall, and it is lightweight at only 11 lbs.

Disadvantages

One of the drawbacks of this printer is the speed. Colour scans still appear unimpressive even if you optimize the resolution to 19200 dpi, and optional photo ink cartridges are expensive. Overall, the HP PSC 1300 is better off as a personal photo printer and may be unsuitable for most offices.
