One of the newer versions of the PSC 2400 series, the HP PSC 2420 is a multifunction inkjet that incorporates printing, scanning, copying, and faxing all in one machine. It boasts decent output speeds, making it a good addition to any SOHO environment. The HP PSC 2420, however, is limited to wired USB connectivity, with no networking or wireless options.
Design
The HP PSC 2420 retains the box-type design of its predecessors, featuring a front-yield paper tray and a digital copier and scanner that sit right on top of the machine. To the right of the scanner lid is the control panel, along with a small viewing screen for monitoring different functions and tasks. The device also features several memory card slots for direct printing/scanning.
Advantages
The HP PSC 2420 has a duty cycle of up to 5,000 printed pages a month. Copies come out at a rate of 21cpm in black and white and up to 14cpm in colour. This model can also produce as many as 99 copies per original document, and can zoom from 25-400%. The HP PSC 2420 boasts a 48-bit colour depth and a scanning resolution of up to 19200dpi (enhanced). The fax feature boasts auto redial capabilities and can operate at a rate of 33.6 kbps.
Disadvantages
There is not much to criticise about the HP PSC 2420, except maybe that it does not have any networking capabilities or wireless support, which can be useful in shared environments.
