Aimed at home users seeking an efficient and fast photo printer, the HP Photosmart 7260 is a midrange option with Ethernet connectivity and direct printing capabilities. However, its speed, overall quality, and system efficiency is less than stellar, so it fails to satisfy very discerning photo enthusiasts.

Design

All controls neatly aligned on the lower left side. Unlike previous photo printers by the same manufacturer, the HP Photosmart 7260 can be used with Ethernet data link protocol. The maximum resolution for colour documents is 4800x1200 dpi. The HP Photosmart 7260 is also lightweight at 6 lbs and compact at 5.7 inches tall, 5.1 inches deep, and 17.1 inches wide.

Advantages

The HP Photosmart 7260 prints great photos because of the HP PhotoREtIV image enhancement technology. It can handle various types of media (including transparencies, iron-on transfers, banners, and greeting cards), so you can use it for different projects that require high-resolution colour printing. Built-in memory card slots mean you can print directly from an xD-Picture Card, Memory Stick, SD Memory Card, SmartMedia Card, or a CompactFlash Card Type I or II.

Disadvantages

The speed remains sub-par even in 'draft' mode, at only up to 10 ppm in monochrome and 9 ppm in colour. It gets slower when in 'best' mode at only 0.6 ppm in colour and black.
