Design

The Brother MFC-8880DN is a 5-in-1 device with a flatbed colour scanner, laser printer, flatbed digital laser copier, laser fax, and PC fax. It prints using a mono laser engine, has a large and easily accessible control panel with a 22-characterx5-line LCD display, and an auto document feeder. This large device is surprisingly lighter than expected, being only 18.6 Kg.

Advantages

A 64MB RAM ensures fast print speeds of up to 30 ppm. It remains speedy when the auto duplexer is in use, so users save more time. The Brother MFC-8880DN is network-ready and can print, scan, or fax securely over a wireless network. It also has speed dials, can handle colour scans, and enables direct printing from a USB flash drive. The fax feature of the Brother MFC-8880DN is compatible with Super G3 technology and can transmit or receive messages at up to 33.6 Kbps. You can print password protected files with the Secure Print feature.

Disadvantages

The high price tag is one of the major drawbacks of the Brother MFC-8880DN; it is very expensive for a monochrome printer. Its web-based interface is too basic, and it is impossible to configure the scanner with it. The Brother MFC-8880DN could have been given a more intuitive and user-friendly interface, because it often overwhelms first-time users.
