Brother MFC-9870N Printer Review
Expert review of the Brother MFC-9870N printer
The Brother MFC-9870N is an all in one printer that is ideal for small offices. The MFC-9870N can print, copy, scan and fax documents with ease. A major drawback to the MFC-9870N is its limited connectivity options (only USB).
Design
The Brother MFC-9870N is fairly compact (49.2 (w) x 45.6 (d) x 42.9 (h), cm) for an all-in-one device and is suitable for small offices. Despite its small size, the printer still manages to hold 250 sheets making it ideal for those who want to print large documents without having the hassle of refilling mid-print.
Advantages
The Brother MFC-9870N is fantastic value for money, especially when you consider you're not only getting a printer, but a scanner, fax machine and copier - all with in one device. Quality is also impressive for its price, effortlessly producing high-resolution graphic-rich documents. The flatbed scanner is of a similar standard creating detailed reproductions.
Disadvantages
If you want to print large documents, or print frequently, then the Brother MFC-9870N may disappoint – print speeds are excruciatingly slow. The printer would also benefit from having a duplex option – not only would this reduce print costs, but would make the printer more environmentally friendly. The Brother MFC-9870N also falls short when it comes to connectivity. The device can't connect onto a network, and can only be accessed through a single USB cable – not ideal if you have multiple devices that you wish to print from.
