With colour printing and fast print speeds, the Canon IR-C5255 colour laser printer is a suitable contender for medium-sized workgroups and growing offices. The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5255 colour printer comes with versatile finishing capabilities and media handling options, while the energy efficient profile contributes to lower running costs, but some users may find it lacking and quite expensive.

Design

This machine may look plain but it is large and bulky when integrated with additional document and paper handling facilities. The main unit stands 1082mm tall, 700mm deep, and 620mm wide, and all functions share 2.5GB of memory while running on a 1.8GHz processor. The control panel's main feature is the 8.4-inch TFT backlit colour touch screen display. The Canon IR-C5255 laser printer connects to a single computer via high-speed USB 2.0, while network connectivity is available through Ethernet. There is another host USB 2.0 port in front.

Advantages

Get more things done with output speeds that range from 51ppm in colour and 55ppm in monochrome. The Canon IRC5255 multifunction printer offers built-in two-sided printing and the ability to print directly from memory cards and USB memory key. The maximum paper capacity is up to 5,000 sheets, and users can save time with group and collate finishing capabilities. The Canon IR-C5255 office colour printer is easier to operate because of the minimalist control panel with the colour display.

Disadvantages

Though the Canon IR-ADV C5255 can print in colour, it doesn't produce the most impressive pictures and graphics. The unit itself is already expensive, but it can get pricier when upgrades are performed. Unfortunately, fax is only optional for the Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5255, as well as other potentially important features like the pedestal, EFI-fiery based controller, additional finishing options, and the barcode printing kit.
