Oki designed the MC860dn as an all-around office printer for workgroups. It promises better productivity with reasonable print speeds and the integration of a copier and a scanner. The Oki MC860dn A3 colour multifunction printer offers versatile paper handling and a network-ready interface, which is easy to set-up, but it fails to deliver better quality colour printouts and scanned images.
Design
Designed for seamless and straightforward operation, the Oki MC860dn colour laser printer is mostly notable for the user-friendly control panel with a larger display screen, neatly-arranged buttons, and one-touch controls for the fax, scanner, copier, and printer. Connecting the MC860dn printer to a computer is easy via a parallel or USB interface, or to a group of computers via Ethernet. The Oki MC-860dn colour laser printer weighs 68kg and measures 658mm tall, 565mm deep, and 669mm wide with the trays closed.
Advantages
It is more compact with a smaller footprint than other Oki multifunction printers. The Oki MC860dn printer is built to be shared by a small workgroup, so it lets users create unique profiles on-board and they can scan or print over a network, too. The interface is more user-friendly and easy to learn, and the automatic document feeder helps save time. The Oki MC860dn can be used for bulk-printing when integrated with the additional 530-sheet paper tray. Users can also operate the MC860dn as a standalone device.
Disadvantages
The most significant drawback in the Oki MC860dn multifunction printer is the exorbitant price tag. Users could get a better-value multifunction printer with the same specifications from the competition. Another setback is the quality of colour output in both the scanner and the printer. Users also found the Oki MC860dn LED printer to be sluggish and not at par with the claimed print speeds up to 34ppm by the company.
