The MPC306 is one of the latest additions to the Ricoh A4 copier/MFP range. Admittedly, the MP C306 does not come cheap, but it does include intriguing features and is the first to include the Ricoh Smart Operation Panel as standard, making operating so much easier for the user. The Smart Operation Panel and Smart Device Print and Scan app make this a handy device for the office or home office.
The Ricoh MP C306 is a compact device measuring just 20.1 inches wide, 23.1 inches deep and 19.9 inches tall, making it desirable for the office and for the home-based worker where space is at a premium. It has 2GB (RAM) system memory and a black and white or colour output speed of 31 ppm. Copy resolution is 600 x 600 dpi, while a selection of modes produces a swift recovery to print response – Quick Mode 30 seconds, Normal Mode 66 seconds, and 10 seconds from Sleep Mode. Output capacity is a standard 100 sheets, with an optional 200 sheets on the big tray.
Where space is tight or the office area small, the compact size of the Ricoh MPC306 makes it a handy acquisition. More important are its features. The printer is able to support standard near field communication (NFC) technology. This means users with NFC-enabled smartphones and tablets are able to use those devices to link with the Ricoh Smart Device Connector app, allowing them to not only control MFP but also send print jobs. And while high energy costs are always a problem, Ricoh claim the MP C306 is the most energy-efficient A4 colour desktop MFP on the market.
Customer reviews for the Ricoh MP C306 are thin on the ground at the moment, but one criticism is its maximum paper capacity, which appears to be marginally lower than other compatible multifunction printers available.
