This simple 'plug-and-play' large-format printer is compatible with HP's e-printing feature for better network management and increased productivity in a small office. The HP Designjet T790 ePrinter aims to help artists and designers save time and money without compromising professional quality output, but it is too fussy to run and configure, and print speeds are not that impressive when compared to competing models.
Design
The HP Designjet T790 is a large-format 24-inch inkjet colour printer that uses thermal inkjet technology with 6 inks. The Designjet T790 is network-ready with Ethernet 10/100Base-TX compatibility and a USB port for PC connection. It boasts decent resolution (2400x1200dpi) and fairly fast speeds because of the 8GB RAM. Printer configuration is easier with the touchscreen panel located on the right-hand corner of the device.
Advantages
It is easy to set-up the HP Designjet T790 inkjet printer in a network and administrators can conveniently manage with the e-Print features. The responsive and intuitive touchscreen is user-friendly and can be used for previewing pages before printing. The HP Designjet T790 large-format printer is web-ready with automatic software updates, and it can print PC-free from a USB flash drive. Output looks accurate with solid and vibrant colours, true greys, and richer blacks.
Disadvantages
The HP Designjet T790 printer is a large and bulky device that weighs almost 60kg and measures 27.6 inches deep and 49.6 inches wide, so it occupies a little too much space in a small room. Some users found it difficult to set-up and when it was time to print, the results were unsatisfactory. The HP Designjet T790 requires manual configuration before it can process the paper and start printing. The HP T-790 inkjet printer is not intuitive enough to properly align paper, so users have to adjust it themselves. Output looks terrible especially in draft mode, and overall print speeds are sub-par when compared to other large-format devices from the same company.
