The HP Deskjet 3638 is a flexible and compact all-in-one printer and scanner unit that can fit comfortably onto any desktop position in a modern office. It can be operated either connected to a smart device, laptop or PC, or wirelessly through a mobile app. The quality of colour photographs produced by the printer is professional, and these can be sent wirelessly to the device from a smartphone. The printer and scanner unit is sleek and attractive, and suitable for most needs, although you’ll have to forgo flatbed scanning.

Design

The HP Deskjet 3638 weighs 4.7kg and has dimensions of 6.2x17.2x12.2 inches. The software in the pack includes HP Printer and HP Update versions, and HP Photo Creations is bundled in. The user has a choice of blue and white models for this unit. With a 1,000-page monthly duty cycle and a capacity of 60 sheets of paper in the tray, this is suitable for most middle-range needs. The colour flatbed scanner on the top of the printer has a dpi of 1200x1200, and the page format for printing is A4. An LCD display has simple icons for controlling the print and scan functions, and there’s an optional quiet mode for printing.

Advantages

The HP Deskjet 3638 is sleek, compact and light enough to be easily transported from one location to another, fitting easily into most convenient office spaces. The intuitive LCD panel and the optional quiet mode for printing are attractive features, and minimal set-up is required when the machine is taken out of its box.

Disadvantages

Some users may not be attracted by the manual feeding, although this is somewhat offset by the double-sided printing operation. The paper feed handles 60 sheets of paper at a time, which may be regarded by some as a limiting factor with the HP Deskjet 3638. The scanner is great for photos and loose sheets but you cannot lay anything on the scanner such as a book, everything must be sent through the paper feed.
