Our Verdict:

The HP Envy 4512 is built to output low cost, high quality photos and documents. Text and graphics are vibrant and clear with this model, with a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi. The 4512 is a multipurpose device with scan, copy and print functions, perfect for light office, school and home use. Easy to install and set up, and boasting a range of digital features, the HP Envy 4512 holds its own in the budget inkjet market.

Design

HP has opted for a classic, low-profile design, with quite a large 13.9cm display at the front. This brings together function and form for a high quality unit for use in a range of working and home environments. The HP 4512 is compatible with both standard and high-yield XL cartridges from HP, so users can scale their ink requirements to suit their needs. A brushed black finish makes the device look elegant and it will sit flush to any hard surface.

Advantages

Print speeds for the HP Envy 4512 are excellent, with manufacturer claims of six pages per minute for ISO colour and nine pages per minute for ISO mono. The built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n standard makes mobile printing simple and intuitive – users can print from tablets and smartphones using WiFi direct. Automatic two-sided printing is also great for cost reduction as it saves paper over time. Borderless printing with documents up to 8.5 x 11 inches and scan to email are also handy features.

Disadvantages

Print speeds are on the slower end of the scale and there is no way to connect HP Envy 4512 via an Ethernet cable for sharing over a wired network. The paper tray has to be opened out every time the device is used, which can be a pain if it is being used regularly in a small office environment. Dark colours may also run together, though print quality is generally great.
