The Konica Minolta Magicolor 4650EN, not to be confused with the PagePro 4650EN, is a superb colour and monochrome laser printer intended for demanding office use. It prints both colour and black and white at a resolution of 9,600 x 600 dpi and a consistent rate of 25 pages per minute. Konica Minolta rates it for 90,000 pages per month, and the standard Konica Minolta 4650EN toner cartridges yields 4,000 and 8,000 pages. The 4650EN fully supports both Windows and Macintosh environments. It has a 500 MHz processor, 256 MB of memory, and a 350 sheet capacity upgradable to 850 sheets. The 4650EN does not support duplex printing.
The Konica Minolta Magicolor 4650EN is a rounded cube that appears to be two interlocking pieces. The face and sides are greyish white, and the top and back are a dark bluish grey. At the top, along the left side, is a power button, an LCD screen, and several buttons in a circular design that allow you to navigate through the on-screen menu. You can also access the Konica Minolta Magicolor 4650EN's menu system via the software provided for both Windows and Macintosh computers. Internally, the 4650EN has an efficient design that allows easy access for cleaning, clearing paper jams, and for swapping out Konica Minolta 4650EN toners.
The Magicolor series has a reputation for superb print quality and super quiet operation and the 4650EN lives up to that reputation on both counts. This machine is also a workhorse that can stand up to the abuse of frequent, everyday use. The reliability of this machine is impeccable. It rarely experiences paper jams let alone anything more significant. The colours are gorgeously vivid, and it produces excellent photo quality. The price is likely too high for most home users, but it's a great option for the business that prints professional brochures, newsletters, business cards and so forth.
The primary downside to the Konica Minolta Magicolor 4650EN is its price. It's at the far end of its range, and at the point where you're about to cross over into the premium business machines. Many small businesses may just want to spend a little more and go that route. Cost-per-page on this unit is high in comparison, and the office that prints frequently may actually be able to save money long-term by spending a little more now.
