The Kyocera TASKalfa 2550ci MFP is a user-friendly colour copier aimed at medium-sized offices that are looking to expand. It is fast and cost-effective with long-life components and high capacity toners, and it can be upgraded with a fax machine so it can serve as a full communications device, but some users might find the Kyocera 2550ci multifunctional for A3 formats expensive.

Design

The Kyocera TASKalfa 2550ci colour laser printer is a combination of rugged and sleek styles on its understated frame that measures 594mm wide, 862mm tall, and 699mm deep. The base unit with the duplexer weighs approximately 95.5Kg. It uses the signature KYOCERA colour laser HyPAS solution platform technology for printing, with a 600x600dpi resolution, which can be enhanced to 9600dpi. The 2550ci colour printer is powered by an IBM PowerPC 750CL / 600MHz processor running on two Gigabytes of RAM. There is a built-in 160GB hard disk drive and a USB host along with fast Ethernet and high-speed USB 2.0. Standard paper handling includes two 500-sheet cassettes and a 100-sheet multipurpose feeder. The control panel is adjacent to the flatbed scanner and it features a large display screen, well-labelled operational keys, and a numeric keypad.

Advantages

It has built-in storage, high paper capacity, and a standard duplexer. Users can also save time and resources with the 50-sheet reverse automatic document processor. The Kyocera TASKalfa 2550ci colour copier is capable of producing up to 999 copies from the original. Digital functions include booklet copy, stamp function, and scan-once-copy-many. The TASKalfa 2550ci printer is also fast, with speeds of up to 25ppm on A4 sheets and 13ppm on A3 sheets in either colour or monochrome. It only takes less than a minute for the device to warm up, with the first page ready in less than 10 seconds. Original Kyocera TASKalfa 2550ci toner cartridges are failry cheap and become even cheaper when purchased in the four colour multipack.

Disadvantages

The TASKalfa 2550ci copier could be better if it had built-in fax. Instead, users need to buy the fax board themselves. The base unit is expensive, and the price for upgrades like additional memory, document finishers, and paper capacity can be high, too. Size could be another problem for those who want the Kyocera 2550ci multifunction copier especially if they have limited installation space.
