A monochrome laser printer, the MS821dn Lexmark is a speedy printer that will meet the printing needs of a busy office. The high yield cartridge designed for this printer will produce around 15,000 printed pages before it needs to be replaced – ideal for businesses with high print volume requirements. Its compatibility with a variety of operating systems is a bonus.

Design

Duplex printing is standard on the mono Lexmark MS821dn and the unit features a 6 cm LCD display. It is designed for paper sizes up to A4. A multipurpose feeder for 100 sheets and a 550-sheet input are included on the printer and there are a number of connectivity options including via a network cable and a USB port. The dimensions of the printer are 44.5x42.8x51 cm and it weighs 25.4 kg.

Advantages

The Lexmark MS821dn has a print speed of around 52 ppm. It can print on a variety of media types, including envelopes and labels. This particular printer also has a very fast time to the first printed page of 4.5 seconds, which is much faster than other printers in the same range. It has a good print resolution of 1200x1200 dpi and the long life of the toner cartridges means that the amount of time spent on maintenance and changing them is greatly reduced.

Disadvantages

This Lexmark printer model has been designed for use in a larger office and it is not recommended for home use. It does not have a colour print option and there is no scan or copy function, so this may limit the printer’s usefulness in a busy office. The printer cannot handle any paper larger than A4, so this could also restrict the potential of the printer. The printer is a reasonable weight but might be difficult for one person to move.
