Canon Fax B120 Printer Review

Expert review of the Canon Fax B120 printer 11 December 2012

Our Verdict:

The Canon Fax B120 is an affordable and user-friendly choice for plain paper facsimile. Aimed at home offices and small businesses with occasional message transmission activity, the Canon Fax-B120 bubble jet plain paper fax is fairly fast for low volume output and convenient to use with an integrated corded handset, but it lacks some essential features.

Design

This compact and lightweight device can be placed on a standard desktop without taking up too much space. The Fax-B120 inkjet printer has a one-line, 16 character display screen on the control panel, right above the numeric keypad. Fifty coded speed dials are available on-board along with nine one-touch buttons. The Canon B120 fax machine uses a BX-3 black ink cartridge.

Advantages

The integrated handset of the Canon Fax B120 bubble jet fax enables users to enjoy full telephony features. A page can be transmitted in six seconds, and if paper or ink runs out, the built-in memory can store the messages for later printing. The Canon Fax B120 has an ink saver mode and features like UHQ image processing, sequential broadcasting, and delayed transmission. The device can also function as a copier, which can produce up to 99 copies from a single document.

Disadvantages

Some aspects of the Canon Fax B120 plain paper fax are outdated for the needs of a modern office and these include the 14.4Kbps fax modem and the limited 50-page memory capacity. Users should not expect stellar printing performance from the Fax B120 printer when it comes to graphics. There are no options to increase the paper capacity. The Canon B-120 inkjet fax could be better if it offered batch transmission, optional memory, and relay broadcast.
