Canon MultiPass C3000 Printer Review
Expert review of the Canon MultiPass C3000 printer
The Canon MultiPass C3000 is a multifunction printer which utilises inkjet technology and has the ability to print in colour, fax, copy and scan. It will meet the needs of a family or student, producing good quality documents and graphics. With the inclusion of four functions, it would also work in a small office where its compact size will allow it to fit easily into a small space. However, the slow colour printing speeds, will mean that printing colour brochures and other common business documents will be a laborious task. Overall, this is a robust, reliable printer, but has few outstanding features to make it stand out from the crowd.
Design
The Canon MultiPass C3000 has a white casing and measures 40 x 36 x 28 cm. Printing speeds are 5 ppm in monochrome and 2 ppm when printing in colour, while printing resolution is 720x360 dpi. Connection is achieved using a parallel interface. Paper capacity is 100 sheets, stored in the paper feeder. The scanner has a single pass scan mode and a grey scale depth of 8-bit. The machine has a control panel on the front with numerous buttons to operate the different functions and a small LCD screen.
Advantages
With a compact size, the Canon MultiPass C3000 allows four office machines to fit in a small space. It can print on a wide range of media including photo paper, envelopes and high-gloss film. With a robust design, the printer will work reliably.
Disadvantages
Auto duplex printing is not available when printing with the Canon MultiPass C3000. Colour printing is slow, meaning it will take a long time if you need to print more than a few photographs. With no internal paper storage, paper in the paper feeder can be easily damaged and will need to be removed every time you wish to switch media.
