HP Laserjet 2200D toner cartridges 

The HP Laserjet 2200D is an older monochrome laser printer designed for home business and small office use. This printer is designed for efficient office use, with networking and duplexing as standard features and built in Postscript 2 support. Even as old as it is, HP built this printer with technology that allows first print out to occur in only 15 seconds and duplexing is completely automatic. HP 2200D toner is inexpensive and easy to find in both OEM standard packaging and discounted aftermarket options.

Design

The HP Laserjet 2200D prints monochrome documents at up to 20 pages per minute at a resolution of 1,200 dpi. This printer has a duty cycle of 40,000 pages per month, an unusually high number for home and office monochrome printers of this age. This printer supports Windows and Mac operating systems with official drivers, though newer operating systems may not have a driver. This printer comes with a 350 sheet input capacity, with options for an additional tray if necessary. A wide variety of media sizes and types are supported, including most standard paper options and envelopes. Connectivity is provided through a variety of ports, including standard parallel, USB 2.0 and Ethernet.

Advantages

This printer produces high quality monochrome documents at a reasonable cost, especially considering its age. Used and refurbished versions of the Laserjet 2200D can be purchased for a reasonable price, and inexpensive HP 2200D cartridges can keep it running with minimal operational costs. For a small office or home using an older operating system like Windows XP, this is a great bargain monochrome printer that will last.

Disadvantages

Newer operating systems may have issues running this printer, which makes long term use questionable even for those who can currently work with it. Even with inexpensive used costs, the price of a modern printer with similar features and a better long term outlook isn't much higher, making the HP Laserjet 2200D a poor option for most office and home office environments.
